QueryLily"...I would never have thought of askingHow you'd got that peculiar name..." |

I made it over to Kaiser this morning and picked up my new glasses. I'll have to get used to this new way of seeing, however much that it seems an improvement on the old. I then spent the afternoon watching Camp at the Shattuck before heading home. It made me want to break out in song, possibly a very scary thought for everyone within earshot. Tomorrow, I'll have to put in some time at work, so I was grateful for a little break.

callback from Miss Stacey Jean
Last night I had a good conversation with Miss Stacey Jean. She sounded...well...good! I wish she hadn't moved back to Texas, but there you go. We talked about her current job, her former job, her upcoming graduate schooling and how she misses the Bay Area. I know I'm not the only Bay Arean who misses her energy and presence. I am looking forward to seeing her around Halloween time...Okay!..eagerly looking forward to seeing her. Last Halloween in particular we had a great time in the Castro, despite several people identifying me as an, ahem, older Shirley MacLaine clone. It was just great hanging out with her that night.
She also told me that she can't depend on reading querylily to tell her what's up with me. My writing voice is too cerebral...just as T has often pointed out in our sessions together about my talking voice, I often have a hard time putting the personal into my personal voice. Ouch! Stacey Jean's comment did take me aback. I guess I'm used to T calling me on it but it always surprises me when others do the same...even kind, wonderful, insightful humans like my friend Stacey Jean. One of those sensitive little personal struggles that you vainly hope no one else notices.
I finished Lethem's Girl In Landscape. Imagine that Jonathan Lethem writes like an angel. You would imagine correctly. So now I'm on to reading Bernard Williams' Shame and Necessity.
