Well...this was last night's program. Let's see. Get to BART. Meet up with Drew. Make it to the Mission and meet up with Mr. Bill. Eat at Pancho Villa's. Get to the Victoria Theatre. Claim the tickets. Stand in line. Lose the tickets...wait a minute...that's not right. Pause here for a brief anxiety attack. Find the tickets. Pause again for a whew!. Get our seats. Sit back and let Varla Jean do what she does best. No, you naughty things, I don't mean that!

I'm almost done with Philip Roth's superlative "The Plot Against America". I hadn't read Roth recently, so I'd somewhat, but not quite, forgotten what pleasures could be found in reading his work. Aside from reminding how tenuously held certain civic virtues, such as tolerance for minorities, can be in society, and of what fragile material what we know as history is made from, there were also several oh wow passages, as in "oh wow, I can't believe what I just read".

October is turning out to be my sad glad month.
Drew over at Drewcifer is relocating to Florida at the end of the month. So I'm sad about that. So are a lot of other people. But I am glad that he's happy with his decision, and that he will be relocating with his, as he has put it, increasingly significant other.
Another thing to be glad about: Drew and I are going to visit with Varla Jean tonight.
